It’s terribly difficult to tackle a subject such as WordPress in 90 minutes, but you managed not only to deliver a great overview, but answer a few more advanced questions. Nicely done.

I really enjoyed your event and learned so much. I know I will find the information very useful in the future. I look forward to future events that you host.

Hi Christine,
Very interesting article, thank you!
As a virtual assistant, one of the most requested services I offer is the installation and semi-customization of WordPress blogs and websites.
1.5 years past, the only way to learn about WP was to devour the internet and set up my own sites through trial and error. (Fortunately, my host support was instrumental as well and I was willing to learn.) It was hours to self-train and then days to learn how to semi-customize. But the learning really never ends and every week I learn something new!
I want to take this one (or two steps) beyond and learn more about WordPress…about customizing as well as more about cloud computing.
Do you have any no-cost suggestions for resources? I’d really like to write an instructional e-book for VAs who want to enter the WP market.
Finally, IShoppingCart is one of the most requested programs requested as well. Is there an open source shopping cart program? I’d really like to learn this as well.
Thank you.

Christine , I am living proof that your article , is 100% true.
We just started a blog , my web designer helped a little with the set up ; however from my perspective blogs can get expensive if you have to outsource every little change . I picked wordpress for the open source capabilites …. I have not actually launched the blog to my clients as thier are still little bugs i need to work out ; Such as flash capabilities for animation , is what i want to use for my about page which will be the home page…

And thank you so much for the shopping cart plug in! I’m thrilled about this! It is something often requested by clients and the only way to really learn is to upload and create my own cart!
So pleased to have “met” you…

WordPress is fantastic. I have to admit I had a bit of a laugh when you mentioned a linux netbook in Nigeria.
I pictured a fellow sending out mass emails about helping him retrieve his family fortune.

Christine. Thanks for the insightful post on plug ins. I have been building a couple of blogs in WordPress and haven’t really gotten into the plugins due to my lack of understanding. This arcticle has provided me with clarity regarding the use of plugins and I think I’ll give it a try!

Chris, this was my third “WordPress 101″ workshop with you. Gems! Every time! I finally understand the value of permalinks (never even knew what they were called), and I now know how to locate appropriate plugins. Every time I master something it encourages me to tackle more. Thanks!

Christine and Christin – You were sooo helpful. I learned so much your style is clear, educational and even a little fun. I look forward to continuing to learn more with you in the future… You gave me things I can do right now to improve my page ( as soon as I get a chance ) but mostly you gave me a sense that I can do this! …what a gift. warmly

In the short time Chritine and Christin had to share the wealth of WordPress they did a fabulous job; there’s a ton to cover and they did a great intro into this tool.

Wonderful event. I learned so much and highly recommend this to anyone interested in developing a web site or switching from an old web site to a wordpress site. Christine and Christin covered an amazing amount of material in a very short time!

Thank you for this event. WordPress is amazing. There is so much to learn. I came away learning a few new tips. Looking forward to trying them out. Great presentation!

Christine did an outstanding job explaining the difference between WordPress.org and WordPress.com for me. I especially enjoyed hearing how My Sql works behind the scenes to create a powerful website building program. Fascinating workshop!

I agree, Sylvia, Christine did a superb job of explaining the back-end of WordPress. Also, I did not realize how flexible WordPress has become. It’s definitely not just for bloggers anymore. My day was a tad tight, so I couldn’t hang around afterwards, having to leave about 5 min early. I wanted to clarify if a current site could be converted to WordPress or would it be a cut and paste kind of thing, a tedious procedure with multiple pages, images and flash files, in which case a whole new WP site might be easier.

Christine and Christin were WoW! Thanks for imparting so much great information to us about a powerful web tool.

Great article Chris. Thanks. I’m putting all these articles together to make a ‘noddy’ guide so I can manage my site really well. I didn’t know Permalinks even existed. Going to try them now.

Wonderful quick and easy tips, Thanks Christine!

Thanks for your presentation today. every time I hear this material, I pick up another nugget…it’s like connecting the dots
If you are new to WordPress I think Christine’s promotion is one of the best values you will find. Having a professional load the program and theme, you know you are getting started on the right foot. And having a practice site is invaluable, you can experiment and make all the mistakes you want before going live. Case in point: I mistakenly dumped practically my whole site off of Filezilla! Christine took the time to reconstruct the thing for me, so at least I know where to start over from. Make no mistake, there is a serious learning curve for WP (at least I find it so). But Christine’s workshops are packed with information, presented in a clear and logical way. You’re limited only by how much data you can absorb at one sitting!
Best, Susan
